(untitled hand-tinted version) and two other similarly engraved and tinted illustrations after Blake from the Italian version of Gabriel Stedman's "Narrative of Five Year's Expedition against the Revolted Negroes of Surinam." 7x9-3/8 inches; small embossed stamp of "Bramati, Costume antico e moderno." Matted and framed. [Milan 1818]

Additional Details

Taken from the Italian version of Stedman's "Narrative." This version of Blake's engraving has added to it a smiling black gentleman who appears to be standing in a field of poppies. According to Stedman, the snake was 22 feet long.
